About KG+2023
KG+ is a publicly recruited art festival started in 2013 with the aim of discovering and supporting upcoming talents among photographers and curators, and will celebrate its 11th anniversary in 2023. KG+ consists of three part: “KG+SELECT”, a publicly recruited exhibition-based competition launched in 2019 as an award category of KG+ (the Grand Prix will win the official KYOTOGRAPHIE exhibition the following year); “KG+”, a publicly recruited photography festival featuring exhibitions by promising artists and curators; and “KG+ SPECIAL”, an exhibition organized by the sponsors and KG+, which are held in conjunction with KYOTOGRAPHIE Kyoto International Photography Festival. KG+ provides participating artists with opportunities to meet curators and gallerists from Japan and abroad, and to disseminate information. The quality and quantity of the program has increased each time it has been held.
To support “artists of the future”
As a manufacturer that takes “photography and tools” seriously, SIGMA has continued to explore the relationship between technology and art, between photography and the tools used to make it. SIGMA’s unique, concept-based cameras and lenses are motivated by the desire to create brilliant photographic equipment for artists. In addition to the high manufacturing standard of our products, it is our utmost importance to provide artists with opportunities to unfold their talents
and to share the profound beauty and wealth of photography with the world.
This year, as a manufacturer of photographic equipment, SIGMA is taking a step further in this regard by sponsoring “KG+” to expand the possibilities of photography and further explore the link between Seeing and Capturing. It is a great privilege for SIGMA to support artists who dedicate their passion, talent and sincerity towards challenging the limits of photography through its sponsorship of KG+.
During the exhibition period, “SIGMA Touch & Try at Kyoto Okazaki Tsutaya” will be held on April 15 (Saturday) and 16 (Sunday), 2023, at Kyoto Okazaki Tsutaya (Sakyo-ku, Kyoto), also located in Kyoto city. Visitors can try SIGMA cameras and lenses and purchase original goods. Please come and visit us.
